Reciprocal Co-Creation Initiatives with Customers
Always mindful of customer needs, we aspire to reflect these needs in our store development practices, in our products and services, and in all other aspects of our business.
HARA8 food courts were opened at Marui Family Mizonokuchi in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2020, and at Nakano Marui and Marui Family Shiki in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2021.
MARUI GROUP defines co-creation with customers as the act of inviting customers to take part in business processes through meetings, in-depth interviews, and other venues, in order to facilitate reciprocal initiatives.

Meetings with Sumikkogurashi EPOS CARD Holders
MARUI GROUP began issuing the Sumikkogurashi EPOS CARD, which features characters from the popular Sumikkogurashi series, in September 2019.
In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2020, we held a total of 12 meetings at which we spoke with 45 holders of these cards with the aim of evolving our services to promote ongoing use. We received a variety of input from cardholders highlighting the demand from customers seeking enjoyment in both physical and virtual spaces. Examples of such input included expressions of the joy customers felt when a Sumikkogurashi merchandise event was held at a Marui store as well as the desire felt for a venue in which fans can connect with peace of mind, as opposed to merely collecting information via the Internet. By reflecting this input into our services and thereby building more enduring and stronger relationships with cardholders, we aim to improve profits over the long term.

Educational Forum for Facilitating Open Innovation
MARUI GROUP has held two workshops together with venture capital firm SAMURAI INCUBATE INC. A total of 40 employees participated in these workshops, during which they learned the process of formulating new business proposals using a standardized framework that spans from idea formulation to product concept planning. In addition, MARUI GROUP has seconded one employee to SAMURAI INCUBATE. We believe that efforts such as these workshops will contribute to future open innovation efforts.
Co-Creation with Communities
MARUI GROUP is promoting co-creation with local communities and the greater society from the perspective of inclusion. For example, we are taking part in co-creation with the local government of Kodaira City, Tokyo and the Japan Blind Football Association through our ongoing support of para-sports. This connection also led to the creation of the MARUI Blind Soccer Park, Japan's first field design specifically for blind soccer.

Engagement with Investors
At MARUI GROUP, co-creation with investors is viewed as an opportunity to deepen the understanding of investors and analysts with regard to our unique business models and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. At the same time, the insight gained through engagement with these stakeholders is shared within the organization and utilized in business activities. A total of 19 investor engagement activities were held in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2021, including tours of tenants practicing co-creation sustainability management at Yurakucho Marui as well as tenants subcontracting the operation of these stores to MARUI GROUP employees and small meetings dedicated to specific themes.
Going forward, we will continue to conduct events and small meetings with the goal of fostering greater levels of engagement between MARUI GROUP and investors.
