The Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure is an award program arranged by the Securities Analysts Association of Japan to encourage improved disclosure of corporate information. Award recipients are chosen based on evaluations by some 500 securities analysts. In the 2023 Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure, MARUI GROUP ranked high among the 23 companies in the retail category for all five evaluation criteria, which included management’s stance toward investor relations and briefings as well as ESG-related initiatives, such as efforts to explain medium- to long-term management plans and human capital investments. - Receipt of Net-Zero Target Certification from Science Based Targets

Science Based Targets is an initiative that was jointly established by CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and WWF. This initiative is tasked with contributing to the creation of a society in which the economy and the environment are in harmony by supporting companies in setting science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets and providing certification of said targets. MARUI GROUP has, in its ESG DATA BOOK for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023, declared its intent to become carbon neutral by accomplishing its new net-zero targets. We have also launched an emissions reduction plan leading up to 2050 and laid out strategies for linking effective reduction measures and decarbonization activities to business growth. Published by S&P Global, the Sustainability Yearbook is a compilation of major global companies that have been rated highly in evaluations looking at matters such as sustainability and environmental, social, and governance initiatives. For the 2021 iteration of the Sustainability Yearbook, a total of 7,032 companies from around the world were evaluated, and 631 companies, of which 78 were Japanese companies, were selected as sustainability leaders. In this iteration, MARUI GROUP was the only retailer included among the 70 companies, six of which were Japanese companies, in the Gold Class. This year marks MARUI GROUP's fourth year of inclusion in the Sustainability Yearbook, with the Company being recognized among the Sustainability Yearbook Members in 2018, as Bronze Class in 2019, and as Silver Class in 2020.

MARUI GROUP's credit card services business has a long history dating back to its founding and the installment payments offered then that gained additional depth when the Company issued Japan's first credit card in 1960. This business was awarded the 16th Porter Prize. The rationale for this selection included a high evaluation of factors such as how we ensure the convenience of credit card issuance in recognition of our cards' position in supporting retail, how our cards are largely held by customers under the age of 40 due to our policy of building creditability together with customers, and the large ratio of revolving payment usage. -

In 2016, MARUI GROUP submitted its first carbon disclosure project report containing information on CO2 emissions volumes and reduction targets to CDP,* an international nongovernmental organization working to address climate change in the environmental field. Amid the extreme heat of early August, we utilize specialized "comfort thermometers" that can easily measure the perceived temperature to perform measurements in the areas of Nakano Marui's Four Seasons and Waterside Gardens enclosed in greenery and in urban areas surrounded by asphalt. Based in part on these results, it was determined that the gardens met the requirements in the three judgment categories through document and on-site inspections, leading to their official certification as "Urban Oases."
